An AP news item moments ago:

Trump calls on Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian diesel infrastructure, saying attacks are causing a shortage
September 13, 2026

“Mr. Zelensky has to do one thing. He has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia,” Trump told reporters on the sidelines of the Irish Open, which is being played at his Doonbeg club.

Seriously? His Orange Highness wants Ukraine to stop defending itself?

What, your Imperial Perfectness, suddenly you are worried about your popularity?

Maybe you should have thought about it before you began to kowtow to Vlad, or before you started to bomb Iran.

You know, just sayin’… with all due respect, your Virtuous Excellency.

One Response to “Gilded ego meets rising diesel prices”

  1. Curiously, yesterday in the news was similarly queer comment from Christine Lagarde:

Lagarde noted that the pressure on consumers isn’t just about crude oil prices, but rather the “destruction of refining capacity around the world, especially in Russia” due to Ukrainian drone strikes.

I honestly halt on any attempt to understand what is behind these talks from the economic point of view. Unless it is some hoax. Or organized flash-mob among leaders to mislead people about situation around Hormuz Strait.

Trump’s request to Zelensky is also something which is a bit difficult to interpret – as I have an opportunity to observe situation somewhat “from the inside”, I dare say that the diesel fuel seems to be virtually unaffected, unlike other sorts. Up to the point that news start advertising cars with diesel engines. And overall it looks the whole affair with attacks on fuel infrastructure is somewhat exaggerated by Trump – what actually made headlines here – was rather methodical destruction of several e-shops sorting centers – now people country-wide have issues with receiving their orders of beauty-creams, mobile gadgets, kitchen utensils etc, etc.
