I only just saw it though, in the feed of a Facebook friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"605\" height=\"488\" src=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/trump-purity.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/trump-purity.jpg 605w, https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/trump-purity-300x242.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 605px) 100vw, 605px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet I think it is even more appropriate today, now that we have seen two years of the Trump presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It of course is a reference to one of the scariest scenes from the 1979 movie <em>Alien<\/em>. I don&#8217;t know if the caption (those words were uttered by Ash, the film&#8217;s robot antagonist who is willing to sacrifice the spacecraft&#8217;s human crew in order to return the alien to his corporate masters ) was part of the original version of the cartoon, but it is this caption that makes the cartoon especially poignant these days.<\/p>\n<fb:like href='https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=9398' send='true' layout='standard' show_faces='true' width='450' height='65' action='like' colorscheme='light' font='lucida grande'><\/fb:like>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This editorial cartoon from the New York Daily News is not new; it seems to be from 2016, drawn by Bill Bramhall.
