Maybe not&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When Doug Ford won the provincial election a few days ago, I expressed my concern that this election (together with the elevation of the NDP to official opposition status and the collapse of the Liberals) was a victory of populism over the moderate center.<\/p>\n<p>My concern, though far from gone, is somewhat alleviated today, not just by the premier-designate&#8217;s apparently competent transition team, but also by his reaction to Trump&#8217;s Twitter tirade against Justin Trudeau:<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left: 1in;\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We will stand shoulder to shoulder with the Prime Minister and the people of Canada. It would have been easy to score populist brownie points with a disparaging tweet. I noticed that more than a few of your followers scolded you for not doing so. Instead, you opted for the high road.
