We were looking for two monsters.<\/p>\n<p>First, we saw Kumo the spider, standing in the shadow of Maman, the National Gallery&#8217;s permanent spider sculpture:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8489\" src=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/kumo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/kumo.jpg 720w, https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/kumo-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, a block away, there was Long-Ma the dragon-horse, loudly snoring in her sleep, occasionally releasing puffs of smoke through her nostrils:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8490\" src=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/LongMa.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/LongMa.jpg 720w, https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/LongMa-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These two mechanical monsters are roaming the streets of Ottawa this weekend, as part of the <em>La Machine<\/em> street theater event.
