{"id":7838,"date":"2016-06-02T11:18:54","date_gmt":"2016-06-02T15:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=7838"},"modified":"2016-06-02T11:19:35","modified_gmt":"2016-06-02T15:19:35","slug":"an-expert-in-what","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=7838","title":{"rendered":"An expert in&#8230; what?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning, <a href=\"http:\/\/quora.com\">Quora<\/a> surprised me with this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/quora.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7840\" src=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/mostviewed-quran-string.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"502\" height=\"110\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/mostviewed-quran-string.png 502w, https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/mostviewed-quran-string-300x66.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 502px) 100vw, 502px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Say what?<\/p>\n<p>I have written a grand total of three Quora answers related to the Quran (or Koran, which is the spelling I prefer). Two of these were just quoting St. Augustine of Hippo, an early Christian saint who advised Christians not to confuse the Book of Genesis with science; the third was about a poll from a few years back that showed that in the United States, atheists\/agnostics know more about religion than religious folk from any denomination.<\/p>\n<p>As to string theory, I try to avoid the topic because I don&#8217;t know enough about it. Still, 15 of my answers on related topics (particle physics, cosmology) were apparently also categorized under the String Theory label.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0I fail to see how my contributions make me an expert on either Islam or String Theory.<\/p>\n<fb:like href='https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=7838' send='false' layout='button_count' show_faces='true' width='450' height='65' action='like' colorscheme='light' font='lucida grande'><\/fb:like>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This morning, Quora surprised me with this: Say what?
