{"id":7017,"date":"2015-08-06T12:27:22","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T16:27:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=7017"},"modified":"2015-08-06T12:27:22","modified_gmt":"2015-08-06T16:27:22","slug":"seven-decades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=7017","title":{"rendered":"Seven decades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning, my copy of The Globe and Mail had a pair of postcard-like pictures on its front page:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/multimedia\/hiroshima-then-now\/article25843859\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7018\" src=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/hiroshima.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"872\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/hiroshima.jpg 660w, https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/hiroshima-227x300.jpg 227w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These pictures are a rather graphic reminder of what happened exactly 70 years ago today: the destruction of Hiroshima, in the first ever use of a nuclear device as a weapon of war.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, the last such use occurred only three days later, in Nagasaki. No atomic bombs were exploded in anger ever since.
