{"id":5836,"date":"2014-03-26T15:51:20","date_gmt":"2014-03-26T19:51:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=5836"},"modified":"2014-03-26T15:51:20","modified_gmt":"2014-03-26T19:51:20","slug":"in-memoriam-karoly-grandpierre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=5836","title":{"rendered":"In Memoriam: Karoly Grandpierre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>25 or so years ago, a mutual friend introduced me to Karoly (Charles) Grandpierre, a struggling Ottawa artist of Hungarian extraction. &#8220;Pierre&#8221;, as his friends knew him, finished his studies at the Ottawa School of Arts and was trying to make a living as a painter. The friend who introduced us died the following year in a tragic car accident. Although we didn&#8217;t really stay in touch, I never completely lost track of Pierre, as there were other mutual friends who from time to time told us about him. That&#8217;s how we learned, for instance, that eventually he moved back to Hungary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hvg.hu\/kultura\/20140320_Meghalt_Grandpierre_Karoly\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5837\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/pierre.jpg\" width=\"560\" height=\"351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/pierre.jpg 560w, https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/pierre-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well, Pierre is no more.
