A place where freedom is illusory. Even Gupta could not resist making a comparison with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0120382\/\">The Truman Show<\/a>: that the normalcy in &#8220;dementia village&#8221; is a fake, a deception.<\/p>\n<p>True, it&#8217;s a deception that serves a noble purpose. Yet it reminded me of another fictitious facility: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/The-Unit-Ninni-Holmqvist\/dp\/1590513134\">The Unit<\/a>, as depicted in the eponymous novel by Swedish author Ninni Holmqvist, where people live out the last days of their lives while waiting to become organ donors.<\/p>\n<fb:like href='https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=5254' send='true' layout='standard' show_faces='true' width='450' height='65' action='like' colorscheme='light' font='lucida grande'><\/fb:like>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was watching a report this morning by Sanjay Gupta on CNN about a unique Dutch facility caring for dementia patients.
