Case in question: in recent days, a <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1110.2685\">supposed explanation<\/a> (updated <a href=\"http:\/\/home.kpn.nl\/vanelburg30\/Publications.html\">here<\/a>) has been widely reported in the popular press, and it had to do with a basic omission concerning the relativistic motion of GPS satellites. An omission that almost certainly did not take place&#8230; after all, <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/principles\/2011\/10\/experimentalists_arent_idiots.php\">experimentalists aren&#8217;t idiots<\/a>. (That said, they may have missed a subtle statistical effect, such as a <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1110.0239\">small difference in beam composition<\/a> between the leading and trailing edges of a pulse.
