The bottom line:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is a reason why a 3-\u03c3 result is not usually accepted a proof of discovery;<\/li>\n<li>The detected signal is highly unlikely to be a Higgs particle;<\/li>\n<li>It may be something exotic going beyond the Standard Model, such as a Z&#8217; neutral vector boson;<\/li>\n<li>Or, it may yet turn out to be nothing, a modeling artifact that will eventually go away after further analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Interesting times.<\/p>\n<fb:like href='https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/?p=2041' send='true' layout='standard' show_faces='true' width='450' height='65' action='like' colorscheme='light' font='lucida grande'><\/fb:like>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just finished reading Tommaso Dorigo&#8217;s excellent blog post about the new results from Fermilab.
