I believe Maxima&#8217;s tensor algebra capabilities remain top notch, perhaps even unsurpassed. (What other CAS can derive Einstein&#8217;s field equations from the Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian?)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maxima.sourceforge.io\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7698 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/maxima.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"872\" height=\"793\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/maxima.png 872w, https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/maxima-300x273.png 300w, https:\/\/spinor.info\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/maxima-768x698.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 872px) 100vw, 872px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Maxima system has more than half a century of history: its roots go back to the 1960s, when I was still in kindergarten. I have been contributing to the project for nearly 20 years myself.<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, Maxima 5.46, here we go!
